MERS responded to their first call of 2009 on January 2nd, for a horse that was down in a pasture. The call came to MERS from a veterinarian who was on the scene. It was theorized that the horse possibly slipped on the slick pasture, and could have been down for up to 24 hours unnoticed. MERS had to off load our Rescue Equipment from the Rescue Trailer, and transport the equipment to the scene with our Gator. It was approximately 1/4 mile in the pasture, and to the closest road. We then transported in incumbent horse out of the pasture using our Rescue Glide, then we were able to raise the horse up using our Spreader Bar, assisted by a very large tree.
