At the request of The Humane Society of Missouri, MERS, along with 2 Humane Society members responded to a call where there were several cattle stranded up to their necks in flood water.

Upon arrival, MERS launched their Rescue Boat with our MERS Certified Water Rescue Team. With the water temperature of 45 degrees, we were outfitted with our Dry Suits, Rescue PFD’s, Water Rescue Helmets, and Throw Bags.

The cattle were approximately 1/2 mile from the shore. In addition to the water being very swift, there was  wind and barbed wire fences  to deal with.

MERS and The Humane Society was successful in getting 3 cattle up to dry ground, and we successfully loaded a calf into the Rescue Boat and transported her to dry land. On our last trip out, we brought in a wet, terrified baby rabbit.
